Hanging Live—An Evening with Instruments and Global Music Genres

The Hanging Live Trio offers their own compositions from world music to jazz. Hypnotic grooves alternate with poetic sounds. Inspired by east-west folk music and the freedom of jazz, the three musicians improvise across different scales, similar to the ragas in Indian music. At the center of the trio is the Israeli drummer Hagay Sofer with the instrument "Hang," a melodic metal percussion instrument struck with the hands, which gives the trio the typical sound and musical direction. Swiss musician Didine Stauffer enriches the groove with a wide range of colors on the Persian dombak, the Indian tablas, and the oriental frame drum. Basel native Tassilo Dellers garnishes the whole thing with folky-jazzy to Far Eastern melody lines on various bansuri flutes, the soprano saxophone, and the bass clarinet.
The Hanging Live Trio will be coming once again to the Wohnzimmer of the Markthalle Basel. The bar opens at 17:00, doors open at 20:00, and the concert starts at 20:30.
Admission is free but there will be a collection.
