The two “Royal Winter Music-Sonaten,” written by German composer Hans Werner Henze for Julian Bream in 1975-76 and 1979, will be presented in advance of a new recording according to the original manuscript. In 1990, a relationship of esteem and friendship developed between the Italian guitarist Marco Minà and Henze that, after Henze's death in 2012, led Minà to decide to record the two important works for solo guitar. The pieces are based on texts by William Shakespeare. In 2017, Minà began editing the original manuscript and all available documents at the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel. In 2022, on the 10th anniversary of Henze's death, both the CD with the two sonatas in world premiere recordings and the new print version of the “Royal Winter Music I” were published by the German publisher Schott Music under the patronage of the H.W. Henze Foundation and the Paul Sacher Foundation.
Tickets are CHF 25-35 for adults and CHF 10 for kids and holders of the Colourkey.
