Half a century of Spoerli ballet deserves to be celebrated! Experience a unique ballet evening in honor of Heinz Spoerli, the Basel "dance maker," who shaped the Swiss dance scene like no other for decades. Spoerli became ballet director in Basel in 1973. Fifty years later, Spoerli's most beautiful and well-known choreographies enchant audiences on the stage of the Musical Theater. On this evening, the audience can enjoy excerpts from his signature piece, the “Goldberg Variations” as well as from ”Nocturnes,” “Swan Lake,” “A Midsummer Night's Dream,” and the ballet “Chäs”—a rustic and fresh work with cult character. These masterpieces are danced by international ballet greats from the most renowned companies in Europe with whom Spoerli has worked, as well as by talented students of the Ballet School of Theater Basel.
