Interfinity Festival — AUF/TAKT With the Gershwin Piano Quartet

The Interfinity Festival offers a fascinating mix of high-caliber international and local artists in innovative and genre-crossing concerts. Over the past few years, it has become an established part of Basel’s annual musical calendar. With a lot of dedication, the organizers draw from the huge well of music and present a surprising palette of musical styles where composers, ensembles, professors, and musicians meet in the infinity of the musical universe. From Baroque, Classic, and Romanticism to contemporary music they are exploring with great curiosity the endless worlds of sound.
Traditionally, Interfinity opens its editions in the special atmosphere of the Gare du Nord. The renowned Gershwin Piano Quartet, which has been delighting audiences worldwide since it was founded in 1996, will open the 2025 festival. The ensemble, consisting of four pianists playing four grand pianos, presents its own arrangements of well-known works from throughout the history of music. With its blend of classical virtuosity and jazzy improvisation, its combination of lyricism and irresistible rhythmic drive, the quartet is causing a sensation and selling out concerts. The musicians themselves describe their work as a very personal examination of the chosen works, which goes far beyond the usual boundaries of interpretation. This ranges from faithful transcriptions to new compositions, incorporating improvisation and remix techniques.
Tickets are CHF 45 for adults and CHF 25 for students.
