One of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time, James Taylor's music embodies the art of songwriting in its most personal and universal form. Together with Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Cat Stevens, he invented a singer-songwriter pop in the 70s, without which many of today's songwriters and guitar-playing singers would hardly exist. Five decades later, his warm baritone, introspective lyrics, and unique style are still a guide for many artists. In 2020, Taylor released his 19th studio album "American Standard"—an homage to the songs of his childhood, with acoustic guitars and his voice taking center stage, filigree, folksy, and irresistibly charming.
