Over the last 30 years, Jean-Paul Brodbeck has demonstrated his stylistic versatility in a wide variety of formations. Together with Andy Scherrer, he founded the experimental hip-hop band Chapter 12. From 2007 to 2010, Brodbeck was a member of Wolfgang Muthspiel's quartet. Since 2009, he has worked more with Johannes Enders and plays in his quartet with drumming legend Billy Hart. In addition to his work as a sideman, Brodbeck mainly plays in trios and teaches at the Luzern University of Music. As a leader, he has recorded eight CDs. In a quartet with guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, he adapted compositions by Frédéric Chopin. In 2025, he will be working on Johannes Brahms. A great jazz evening for an outstanding Basel jazz veteran who has shaped the Basel and Zürich scenes for more than 25 years.
