Jordan Klassen / Kendall Lujan
Canadian singer-songwriter Jordan Klassen is coming back to Europe with his brand-new album “Marginalia” (2023), as well as the wonderful single “Casey.” When Klassen set out to write his seventh album, “Glossolalia,” he tapped into a new creative source. He continued writing while recording the album and emerged with two distinct but complementary works. “Marginalia” now completes the collection from this period. The Vancouver-based singer-songwriter and producer composed “Glossolalia” primarily with guitar, creating a subtle, flourishing album that encapsulates his “fairy folk for troubled times” approach. The arrangements on “Glossolalia” have been stripped back to the essentials to support Klassen's voice with minimal production. Troubles may not be a thing of the past, but times have changed, and so “Marginalia” is the other side of the musical coin. It is smoother, fuller, and more elegant than its predecessor.
Klassen is supported by Kendall Lujan from Portland, Oregon. She combines strong vocals with a folk/jazz flair. Her distinctive voice combines inspiration from old jazz and old country with her own unique interpretation of expression. She prefers to write when she's sad, but as she says, “sometimes people just want to be sad—it's actually enjoyable at times because it makes happiness so much sweeter.”
Tickets are CHF 25 in advance or CHF 30 at the door.
