Even during Franz Schubert's lifetime, private performances of his works took place, the so-called Schubertiads. You can experience one yourself on New Year's Eve. Take a journey back in time to 19th-century Vienna with the Basel Chamber Orchestra Quintet—musically and culinary, with poems, anecdotes, and colorful hustle and bustle. Become part of the Viennese Unsinnsgesellschaft (Nonsense Society), of which Franz Schubert was also a member.
His “Trout Quintet” is at the center of the program. Incidentally, it was composed at the suggestion of cellist Silvester Paumgartner, to whom it is also dedicated. The New Year's Eve “Silvester-Nachtklang” (night sound) concert couldn't be more fitting.
Tickets are CHF 55 for adults and CHF 35 for students.
