Käthi Gohl Moser & Jermaine Sprosse — Classical Music Under the Hammer

Since 2007, with a lot of volunteer commitment and passion, Piano di Primo has been organizing jazz concerts that enable artists of national and international importance to introduce the audience to tried and tested musical specialties and novel ideas. They are organizing a few events per year in the Fachwerk building (Allschwil Local History Museum) in the middle of the idyllic village center of Allschwil, where you can spoil yourself with selected wines, a cold beer, or non-alcoholic refreshments from the bar.
Käthi Gohl Moser and Jermaine Sprosse embark on a journey through the musical world, especially of Johann Sebastian Bach's sons. Alongside more well-known works, there are musical discoveries—primarily from the Age of Enlightenment towards the end of the 18th century, which (according to Immanuel Kant) aimed at "humanity's emergence from its self-incurred immaturity." Guided by reason and understanding, people should increasingly take responsibility for their own lives. This significant social upheaval, away from the control of court and church, also strongly influenced the arts of this period. For example, J. Chr. Friedrich Bach collaborated in Bückeburg with the well-known Sturm und Drang representative Johann Gottfried Herder. Sprosse is a specialist in piano music of this period, especially on historical keyboard instruments, and cellist Gohl Moser is always interested in discoveries, be it in the music of our time or—for example, with the cello in historical scale—in treasures from earlier eras.
Tickets are CHF 38.
