Klanglichter 2023: Kaleidoscope
The theme of the concert series "Klanglichter" for 2023 is “Kaleidoskop”—a word derived from Greek that means “to see beautiful shapes.” Accordingly, the series will present four concerts that focus on the diversity of musical expression. String instruments are combined in various formations, in dialogue with flute or clarinet, with guitar, piano or even with the voice of an actor.
This concert features the Paganini Ensemble Wien, which has set itself the task of providing a unique insight into Paganini's extensive oeuvre for violin, guitar, viola, and cello with this rarely performed program. Paganini is known for his outstanding virtuosity as a violinist, but he was so much more! Not only did he play the guitar as well as he did the violin, he also created an extraordinary oeuvre of chamber music with about 250 works for diverse instrumentations. While to the public he mostly presented his works for violin and orchestra, he also created numerous compositions for solo violin or quartets with guitar, several of which are on the program on this evening. With the greatest virtuosity they express stormy passions as well as the deepest, most tender feelings, suffering as well as joy. Without this emotional component Paganini's music cannot be understood. As Paganini himself said, "We must feel strongly in order to let others feel."
Tickets are CHF 38 for adults and CHF 23 for students.
