Klanglichter — Hommage to Maurice Ravel

March 7, 2026 marks the 151st anniversary of Maurice Ravel's birth. The Klanglichter concert series takes this date as an opportunity to dedicate an entire program to the French composer. The renowned pianist Adrian Oetiker will perform four important piano works that illuminate the entire spectrum of the great master from different angles. The first is the “Sonatine,” a filigree miniature full of elegance and sophistication, designed according to the classical model. No less refined, but at the same time sonorous and highly virtuosic, follow the “Miroirs”—five colorful atmospheric pictures in which Ravel explores the tonal possibilities of the piano, from shimmering moths to windswept bell sounds to powerful ocean waves. In the second part of the concert, numerous dances will be heard, in which Ravel paid homage to past epochs: in the “Valses nobles et sentimentales” he revives Schubert's light-footed charm, and finally, in “Le Tombeau de Couperin,” he evokes the traditions of the French Baroque with dances such as Forlane and Rigaudon, but also with breakneck piano virtuosity in the concluding Toccata.
Tickets are CHF 43 for adults and CHF 23 for students.
