The border region between Texas and Mexico is not only rich in culinary delicacies but has also a lot to offer musically. Bands like the Sir Douglas Quintet, the Texas Tornados, and Los Lobos mix rock 'n' roll and blues with Mexican folk music, much to the delight of boisterous audiences in bars and dance halls around the globe. TexMex is crisp, cheerful, sometimes sentimental music that also enjoys great popularity with the Swiss public.
Now, five seasoned musicians from Bern, who love to move around, have finally founded the overdue Swiss TexMex branch. Los Mendocinos named themselves after the hippie hit of the same name by the Sir Douglas Quintet. With saxophone, blues guitar, small organ, and three-part vocals, they rock with their Latin grooves and Spanish ballads. Rock 'n' Roll con Corazón in Bernese style—Los Mendocinos bring the best of three worlds.
