Lost Letters — Lucia Lacarra

Ballet star Lucia Lacarra is coming to Switzerland! On this evening, the audience at the Musical Theater Basel will experience the grace of the Spanish ballet superstar, winner of the "Ballet Oscar" Benois de la Danse, the Nijinsky Prize and the title of Dancer of the Decade. At her side is her partner and choreographer Matthew Golding, former principal of the Royal Ballet Covent Garden, as well as 12 dancers from the Lucia Lacarra Ballet company. They show the ballet “Lost Letters,” which is based on a true story.
In difficult times, the English soldier Frank Bracey wrote letters to his wife. He called her "the best girl in the world" and thanked her for every word and her love that warmed his heart. But behind the words of gratitude there was a premonition that he might never return. In his last letter, he asked her for the impossible: to find the strength to continue living, to be happy and to love again one day. "Keep our love in your heart, but do not lock yourself in loneliness," he wrote.
What if this letter had never arrived? This question became the basis of “Lost Letters”—a dance-like memory of millions of farewell letters, of words that connected hearts and became last lines. On stage, the story of a woman who waited and hoped and a man who went away with only the thought of saving her heart from despair comes to life. Music and choreography weave grief, hope, loss, and bright remembrance into the pages of a diary, written with tears.
Tickets are CHF 61.50-121.90.
