Lutz Gerlach & Ulrike Mai — Me(e)rry Christmas

Fachwerk Allschwil
Saturday, 13 December
20:00

Since 2007, with a lot of volunteer commitment and passion, Piano di Primo has been organizing jazz concerts that enable artists of national and international importance to introduce the audience to tried and tested musical specialties and novel ideas. They are organizing a few events per year in the Fachwerk building (Allschwil Local History Museum) in the middle of the idyllic village center of Allschwil, where you can spoil yourself with selected wines, a cold beer, or non-alcoholic refreshments from the bar.
Lutz Gerlach and Ulrike Mai bring the sea to Allschwil. Under the title “Me(e)rry Christmas,” they will not only interpret well-known Christmas carols in their own unique way, but also original compositions. From clear to cloudy and from baroque to jazz, Bach meets Brubeck, and "Oh, du Fröhliche" meets Van Halen's "Jump" or Slade's "Merry X-Mas." Every year, Mai and Gerlach travel through music history with their unusual and unique arrangements, taking their audiences to the seaside. The two musicians live on the Baltic coast in the artists' town of Ahrenshoop. The artist duo is known throughout Germany for their special concert programs, in which they interweave classical, jazz, pop, and rock in a unique way. Gerlach has been described by the trade press as a jazz-influenced romantic who transports his audience to other sound worlds. The classical pianist Mai is one of the most well-known musicians of her genre in Northern Germany.
Tickets are CHF 38.
