Since 1995, the pianist Robert Kolinsky together with his team endeavors to bring renowned artists to Basel for an annual classical music festival to popularize the works of Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. The festival, which is regarded by the media as “the smallest but finest of its kind,” this year will run from November 10-24 and will include four concerts and one film.
On the occasion of this family concert, the Martinů Festival will show eight European short films about football and “Half-Time,” which combines Martinů’s football composition “Half-Time” from 1924 with footage of the 1924 Olympic football games. There will also be an interview with Birger Schmidt, director of the football film festival 11mm.
