Martinů Festival — Family Concert

Since 1995, the pianist Robert Kolinsky and his team endeavor to bring renowned artists to Basel for an annual classical music festival to popularize the works of Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů. The festival, which is regarded by the media as “the smallest but finest of its kind,” this year includes five concerts.
On this evening, the Martinů Festival will be presenting a family concert entitled “Bětuska and the Forest Fairy,” a musical retelling of the eponymous fairy tale by Božena Nemcová for children ages 5 and older. The program includes two works by Miloslav Kabeláč (“Dĕtem,” op. 22, and “Modré Nebe,” op. 19a) as well as three works by Martinů (Nonet No. 2, H.374; “Children’s Songs,”H.184bis; and excerpts from Serenade No. 3, H.218).
Tickets are CHF 10 for adults and CHF 5 for children.
