Maud Paquis

Maud Paquis' musical career began in 2020, a year marked by a lockdown conducive to creativity. The young French-Swiss musician took to the stage for the first time on the occasion of the Proxima project in the prestigious concert hall "Les Docks" in Lausanne. This experience gave rise to her first EP "Morphée," whose compositions lie at the interface of jazz, pop, and chanson and delight an increasingly wider audience.
In September 2022, Paquis felt an ever stronger attraction to jazz and founded the Maud Paquis Quintet. In this formation she is accompanied by Samuel Goupil on drums, Lennart Schandl on electric bass, Robert Soltermann on tenor saxophone, and Maurice Ruf on guitar. The four musicians met during their jazz studies at the EJMA in Lausanne or at the HKB in Bern. Inspired by artists such as Camille Bertault, Michel Legrand, and Cecile McLorin Salvant, Paquis now moves firmly in the tradition of French-speaking jazz, which she interprets in a new way and explores the diverse nuances of this musical genre.
As winner of the audience award of the ZKB Jazz Prize 2024 at Moods (Zürich), Paquis has already performed on many important jazz stages in Switzerland as well as on renowned pop stages.
