Medieval Market at the Lenzburg Castle
The historic Lenzburg Castle provides this most fitting backdrop for the colorful hustle and bustle of a medieval market. For these three days, you can come to the castle to browse the many market stalls filled with diverse crafts and watch a birds-of-prey demonstration. Be transported back in time with jugglers, theater, period dance to medieval music, sword fighting, and an alchemist mixing his mysterious tinctures. Children and adults can practice the medieval art of archery. There will be medieval delicacies from the castle’s kitchen and cellar in the courtyard.
Why not pair the medieval market experience with a visit to the rest of the castle? The inner courtyard is surrounded by a variety of buildings, including a knight’s hall, towers, keep, and bailiff’s residence, as well as beautifully maintained gardens. The castle is open daily from 10:00-17:00 (closed Monday) and can be reached by car in just under an hour or by public transport by taking the train to Lenzburg, then either walking directly to the castle (20-30 minutes) or taking the bus to Kronenplatz or Schlossparkplatz and walking 10-15 minutes to the castle.
