Merlin’s Puppet Theater — Clowns’ Houses

One building, five apartments, and six main comic-tragic characters who lead miserable lives. The audience watches them lead their conventional lives in a dark, claustrophobic environment with their fears, obsessions, and loneliness. In their dreams, reality erupts as a monstrous figment of the imagination—choking electrical cables, aggressive television sets, and snake necks that only spit out banknotes. The Merlin Puppet Theatre's intense charisma is particularly due to the contrast between the static facial expressions of the puppets and the turbulent sound sphere.
In "Clowns' Houses" various techniques of puppet theater merge together—marionettes, table puppets, objects, and shadow theater. The visual performance has been touring the world since 2012 and has won numerous awards. The Merlin Puppet Theatre, which originates from Greece and is now based in Berlin, was founded in 1995 by Dimitris Stamou and Demy Papada. Both are theater puppet and mask makers. Puppets and other objects are used to create images with an intensity that goes beyond human performance. This entertaining and unusual puppet theater is a must see!
Tickets are € 25.
