Mokoomba's Afrobeat and Zamrock captivate audiences with their driving rhythms, electrifying beats, and unique harmonies—Afrofusion at its best. When the six musicians from Zimbabwe enter the stage and send the audience into ecstasy, the earth trembles. At their concerts, Mokoomba doesn't let any visitor stand still, but inspires with the raw energy of African rhythms, the unique singing of frontman Mathias Muzaza, and the concentrated power of melodic and exotic harmonies. The band takes their audience to other worlds and tells stories of Africa and Zimbabwe and its rituals.
Mokoomba was born on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, where the Zambezi River meets the iconic Victoria Falls. The six young musicians grew up in different cultures of the region and bring all these influences into their music to create a unique musical world. Their uniqueness and passion for music has been recognized many times, including winning the Music Crossroads Southern Africa Award for Best Newcomer Band in 2008, Songlines "Best Newcomer" Award in 2013, and Songlines “Top of the World Albums Award” in 2018.
