Mondrian Ensemble — Common Places

kHaus
Wednesday, 28 January
20:00

In this program, the Mondrian Ensemble will extend its reach eastward. Composers from Singapore, New Zealand, and Switzerland will write new works for a program that spans a multifaceted arc across the centuries. A selection of pieces from John Baldwyne's “Commonplace Book,” a fascinating collection of English Renaissance music, will serve as a common thread throughout the program. The American composer Peter Ivan Edwards, who lives and teaches in Singapore; the Swiss composer Oliver Weber, who lives in Vienna; and the New Zealand composer and guitarist Dylan Lardelli will write new works for the Mondrian Ensemble. Some of these works will reference English Renaissance pieces. The program also includes a string trio by the young composer and performer Joey Tan, originally from Singapore and now living in Germany.
Tickets are CHF 5-34.95.
