Music Theater — Tiefer Graben 8
Ludwig van Beethoven constantly changed flats during his life. In his adopted home of Vienna alone, he had well over 30 addresses. Based on 138 official (and some semi-official) compositions by Beethoven, director Christoph Marthaler, set designer Anna Viebrock, and conductor Sylvain Cambreling explore the implications of constantly moving in, out, and around. They also draw on numerous sketches and fragments by the composer, which can be heard in new arrangements for the Sinfonieorchester Basel. This production offers a poetically whimsical evening of music theater with music by van Beethoven and several performers that is about excessive living and pathological homelessness. The production is in German with English surtitles.
Tickets are CHF 30-145 for adults and CHF 20 for youths up to age 16 and students up to age 30.
