Nachtklang — Passionate Delights

Don Bosco Basel
Thursday, 26 June
21:00

Graham Valentine is a longtime collaborator of violist Martin Zeller. They have collaborated in various productions by Christoph Marthaler; most recently in the two-person piece "Aucune Idée," which they performed 75 times in nine countries from 2021 to 2024. Now, they are presenting a “Nachtklang” (Night Sound) program at Don Bosco based around readings from Robert Burton's "The Anatomy of Melancholy" from 1621.
This book had an indirect but significant influence on English musical culture in the 17th century. It strengthened the connection between melancholy, intellect, and artistic expression and inspired composers to explore these themes musically. It gave rise to compositional experimentation and polyphonic complexity paired with supreme instrumental virtuosity. Discover the connection between literature and music in this Nachtklang concert.
Tickets are CHF 25 for adults and CHF 13 for students.
