Nick Moss Band Feat. Dennis Gruenling, Steve Guyger, and Sax Gordon

Chicago blues legend, singer, guitarist, songwriter, and bandleader Nick Moss and harmonica virtuoso and vocalist Dennis Gruenling have been a winning duo since they came together in 2016. Both have won numerous U.S. blues music awards. Moss' band is certainly the best Chicago has to offer, and in 2020, the band was named Band of the Year and the album “Lucky Guy” was named CD of the Year in the United States. For this concert in Basel, Moss will play tracks from this latest CD, which was recorded on probably the most famous blues label—Alligator.
Moss is deeply rooted in the Chicago Blues tradition. He has played in the rough and sometimes run-down blues clubs on the south and west sides of Chicago, as well as with some of the giants of Chicago blues like Jimmy “Fast Fingers” Dawkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, and Jimmy Rogers (there will also be a tribute concert to Rogers on June 3).
New Jersey native Gruenling is an absolute top harmonica player and singer. His fat harmonica sound, soulful vocals, and raw, unbridled energy are the perfect counterpart to the inspired guitar playing and impressive vocals of Moss. Gruenling is strongly influenced by harmonica greats like Little Walter or George "Harmonica" Smith, as well as by jazz saxophonists like Lester Young. He has about 10 solo CDs to his name.
For this concert, Moss and Gruenling will be joined by Steve Guyger on vocals and harmonica Sax Gordon on saxophone and vocals, as well as by bassist Rodrigo Mantovani, keyboardist Taylor Streiff, and Pierce Downer, who is the newest member of the band.
Tickets are CHF 67.
