If you don’t like to get up early to get the best finds at a flea market, here is the solution—on the first Saturday of the month, you can come to the Markthalle, a few minutes’ walk from the Basel SBB, to browse their “Nachtflohmarkt” (night flea market). On this evening, the numerous flea market stands will be offering the best second-hand retro design, bric-a-brac, and antique goods, including furniture, lamps, books, porcelain, pewter, and many other collector's items. All this will be offered in parallel to the vinyl record flea market happening in the adjacent event hall (Wohnzimmer) of the Markthalle. The on-site bar serves drinks that will certainly complement any dish you choose at the street food stands.
