Nils Landgren's “Christmas with My Friends” is a faithful musical companion of the Christmas season and the repertoire is almost inexhaustible. This eighth edition again presents a varied selection of international, Swedish, traditional, and modern Christmas carols as well as atmospheric secular popular songs in the familiar quiet and intimate atmosphere.
For many, Landgren’s Christmas albums are now as much a part of Christmas as cookies or the Christmas tree. Seventeen years ago, the trombonist, singer, and star of the European jazz scene gathered his closest companions for the first time to get in the mood for the festive season with them on a tour of churches in Sweden and Germany. In the end, “Christmas With My Friends” was the “most beautiful Christmas CD,” as one critic wrote. Since then, Landgren and his friends have repeated this special way of celebrating Christmas every two years. And now, it’s that time again—“Christmas With My Friends VIII” is ready, with each musician contributing their own individual touch.
