The latest project by French pianist Simon Denizart (Révélation Radio Canada) entitled “Nomad” is the result of a three-year collaboration with Canadian percussionist Elli Miller Maboungou, in which the focus is primarily on the calabash. Together they form an original and dynamic duo that pushes the boundaries of traditional instrumental aesthetics and offers an eclectic journey through a rhythmic, melodic, and cinematic music. Influenced by world music, jazz, classical, and electronic music, the repertoire presents original instrumental compositions that bring to life a narrative on the themes of travel, migration, and human relationships.
Nominated in the Album of the Year Jazz category at the 2021 ADISQ Gala (Victoire de la Musique Québécoise), the album expresses the world and atmosphere of the two musicians' complicity.
