Open Day at the Guide Dog School

Stiftung Schweizerische Schule für Blindenführhunde
Saturday, 02 September
10:00-16:00

The Stiftung Schweizerische Schule für Blindenführhunde Allschwil (Foundation Swiss School for Guide Dogs Allschwil) is now 51 years in operation! On this Saturday, all are invited to celebrate this special anniversary with them. You will experience and enjoy the school with a wide range of information, and this adventure for the whole family will be completed with a range of fine street foods.
Activities on this day will include demonstrations with guide dogs, assistance dogs, and social dog teams in action; lectures on autism and the training of autism assistance dogs; experiencing a course using dark glasses as well as their "Blackbox;” maneuvering with the wheelchair; and exhibition of aids for blind and visually impaired people as well as harnesses for the dogs. You can also watch a film about the training and work of their four dog departments (guide dogs, social dogs, assistance dogs, and autism companion dogs) and take a free tour of the facility.
The use of public transport is highly recommended as parking is limited.
Admission is free (donations are graciously accepted).
