Open Day at the Guide Dog School
The Stiftung Schweizerische Schule für Blindenführhunde Allschwil (Foundation Swiss School for Guide Dogs Allschwil) is now 50 years old, and on this Saturday, all are invited to celebrate this special anniversary with them. The whole family can experience and enjoy the school with a wide range of information and activities as well as a selection of fine street foods.
The anniversary program includes demonstrations with guide dogs, assistance dogs, and social dog teams in action; lectures on autism and the training of autism companion dogs; experiencing a course using dark glasses as well as their "Blackbox"; maneuvering with the wheelchair; exhibition of aids for blind and visually impaired people; as well as harnesses;
You can also watch a film about the training and work of their four dog departments (guide dogs, social dogs, assistance dogs, and autism companion dogs) and visit different areas of the facility.
Admission is free, although donations are graciously accepted.
