Opera — Der Freischütz (The Marksman)
The prize of true love is one of the greatest prizes to be won. Before the daughter of the head forester can experience something similar, her beloved Max, the region's best marksman, must win a shooting contest. And this involves enlisting supernatural help. A fairy tale of yesteryear? Perhaps. Although using criminal methods to gain an advantage in public contests seems to be more commonplace than ever today. As such, Christoph Marthaler's “The Marksman” deals with a forest inn and stirring hunting choruses and songs. But it is also about organized crime and the sadistic laughter of those who operate a few invisible pedals at a gambling table to ensure the ball lands where it is supposed to, no matter the cost.
Tickets are CHF 30-140 for adults and CHF 20 for youths under age 30.
