Pianist and composer Hania Rani revives texts from Renaissance songs by John Dowland in her contemporary sound language. Together with the internationally renowned singers Emily D'Angelo and Álfheidur Erla Guðmundsdóttir, Rani has conceived a mystical, installative concert performance in the Elisabethenkirche: a futuristic oratorio. The sacred space is transformed into a soundscape that cancels out time and creates an endless loop between the Elizabethan past and a distant future. In addition to D’Angelo, Guðmundsdóttir, and Rani, the performance features the Neophyt Vokalensemble and Kammerorchester Basel. This sound journey through space and time will be performed in English.
Tickets are CHF 70 for adults and CHF 10 for persons under age 30, students, and holders of the ColourKey.
