Taste, feast, participate, linger, learn, refine, experience, bake, and cook apples—at the “Öpfel-Tag,” everything revolves around the juicy, native autumn fruit in the Markthalle Basel. This special market offers apples in all shapes, sizes, and colors that will be available for purchase fresh, dried, canned, jarred, fermented, or otherwise refined. There will also be stands with home-made and creative goods to eat and to decorate, and a lot of information in the form of tastings, lectures, and activities. Families with young and older children can also enjoy a colorful children's program on the topic.
This year, Öpfel-Tag is combined with the Expo Fruits Basel. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, FRUCTUS is presenting an exhibition featuring around 700 heritage fruit varieties. Under the motto "Enjoy fruit variety!", they will be offering tastings and workshops . Those wanting to learn more will find inspiration at the keynote speeches and information booths. Another highlight is the exhibition of fruit paintings.
EUROPOM®, European partner organizations of FRUCTUS will also present fruit varieties and fruit specialties from their countries.
Entrance to this event is free; they are open all day (until 22:00 on Saturday).
