In this cooperation with musicians from the Sinfonieorchester Basel, the audience is treated to the world premiere of a commissioned piece by Domenico Melchiore, solo percussionist with the Sinfonieorchester Basel, composer, and founder of musical instrument development company, LUNASON. His composition "Airë," performed by organist Ilja Völlmy Kudrjavtsev on the wind-dynamic organ, soprano Sarah Brady, and new LUNASON instruments, will take listeners to unheard-of sound words. The work was inspired by Franz Liszt’s Phantasy and Fuga on the choral "Ad nos, ad salutarem undam," which also is on the program. A fresh breeze also is brought by a spectacular new arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky’s "Pictures at an Exhibition" for organ, brass instruments, and percussion, with musicians from the Sinfonieorchester.
