20:30

On this evening, Jazz Festival Basel will be presenting a concert entitled “Flamenco Night.”
Pablo Martín Caminero (born 1974 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) studied classical double bass at the Vienna University of Music and Theatre. After completing his studies, he moved to Madrid and began his career as a bassist, composer, and producer. Due to his musical versatility, he has collaborated from the outset with musicians from a wide range of styles, including flamenco greats such as Gerardo Núñez and Jorge Pardo, the band Hippocampus, flamenco-jazz pianists Chano Domínguez and Niño Josele, Rocío Molina, as well as various other jazz, classical, and baroque musicians. He has also composed film scores for several filmmakers. In 2017, he received the prestigious BBK Foundation award for best instrumentalist in Spain. His main focus, however, is now on his own trio with pianist Moisés Sanchez and drummer Paquito Gonzáles, as well as his quintet, which includes Cuban drummer Michael Olivera, Sanchez, Cuban saxophonist Ariel Bringuez, and trombonist Carlos Martín.
Tickets are CHF 40.20-65.70.
