Pat and The Blueschargers

Imagine you inherit a wonderful Gibson SG. But to find out how it sounds, you first have to repair it because its neck is broken. Do you take on this complicated job—or rather, spend a lot of money on it? With the risk that the guitar's sound might not be right for you in the end? Music has always been a risk. And it is today more than ever. All the more reason to enjoy listening to those who take those risks; who spare neither effort nor hard work to create new songs and record them. Just as Pat Laemmle has been doing for decades with his band The Blueschargers. And now, for the first time, with a solo album. The fact that the 12-track LP is called "Born With The Blues" is no coincidence. "There are people for whom the blues is written in their soul, they carry it in their genes," Pat writes in the album booklet. That he himself is one of these people goes without saying. It is far from being a traditional blues album in the sense of 12 bars and three chords. And yet, the essence of the blues—its soulfulness, its passion, but also the awareness of the roots and possibilities of this music—flows from every groove. Pat explored all the nuances that make good old classic Chicago blues so multifaceted and timeless. And it's no surprise that he was accompanied by luminaries like Richard Spooner and Andy Tolmann, both of whom also play with Philipp Fankhauser—the quintessential Swiss man for classic (or classy?) blues.
Tickets are CHF 20 in advance and CHF 25 at the door; students get CHF 5 discount.
