Pat Bornstein is a singer songwriter based in Basel. Primarily a music lover, Bornstein cites her influences as Tori Amos, Heather Nova, Florence and the Machine, and Sinead O’Connor. She has recently completed her debut album which she hopes will find its place among the work of such luminaries. “Hummingbird” is a collection of her most recent songs and is produced by award winning producer Andy Wright and recorded at the famous Rockfield Studios in Wales.
“Since I was a little girl I dreamed of performing my own songs on stage but I didn’t realize how much blood sweat and tears I would have to experience to give birth to this record!” But while “Love and Loss” had been suggested as a potential title for the album, she believes that all her experiences have given her the wings to navigate almost anything—rather like a hummingbird. Bornstein’s music could be described as contemporary alternative rock. Her influences are many, but her narrative is unique to her. With the central themes being love and loss, people will identify with her relationships and see themselves in them. Bornstein will be performing her launch at the Parterre One on this evening. “Hummingbird” is a superb debut, with sumptuously melodic compositions and complex arrangements.
Tickets are CHF 25 in advance or CHF 30 at the door; CHF 5 reduction for students.
