The Riehen Philharmonic Orchestra will open its 20th anniversary concert on March 16, 2024 with the overture to “Egmont” by Ludwig van Beethoven, followed by Peter Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony. This work is an intensive examination of fate and consists of four movements that are all based on the same main motif, which undergoes a dramatic development from the dark beginning of the first movement to the triumphant conclusion of the finale. The Philharmonic Orchestra plays this monumental work with an unusually large cast of around 78 participants.
