Sunday, 20 August
11:00-12:00

The Sinfonieorchester Basel will be performing its first picnic concert of the 2023-2024 season with a program entitled “Serenade.” Johannes Brahms composed the Serenade No. 1 in D major from 1857-1860, during a period in which he spent the autumn and winter months as pianist, conductor, and teacher at the Princely Court in Detmold. During these years he was also intensively occupied with the symphonies of Haydn and Beethoven, whose influence can be heard in the Serenade.
Pure enjoyment awaits you at the picnic concert in the courtyard of the Museum der Kulturen. Simply show up with a blanket or chair and bring your own picnic basket; music and the right ambience will be provided. The concert will only be held in dry weather.
Entrance is free and no tickets are required.
