Pippo Pollina in Concert

The Sicilian singer-songwriter Pippo Pollina is known for his innovative, creative, and daring musical experiments. Pollina, who has lived in Switzerland for many years, has already successfully performed his diverse and extensive musical repertoire with a symphony orchestra. This project now sees an impressive continuation. Accompanied by the most talented young musicians from Switzerland, Pollina will tour renowned theaters in Europe. The final performance of this unique tour will take place in Basel, where he will be accompanied by the two youth orchestras that usually alternate on tour with him: the Jugend Sinfonieorchester Zürich and the Schweizer Jugend-Sinfonieorchester. This project aims to blend various 20th-century styles. The concerts will feature ethnic influences from Béla Bartók, Latin American influences from Astor Piazzolla, and the epic narrative of Italian composer Ennio Morricone. Under the direction of Swiss-French maestro David Bruchez and with orchestral arrangements by Massimiliano Matesic and Juan Esteban Cuacci, the Schweizer Jugend-Sinfonieorchester forms a perfect symbiosis to reinterpret and optimally perform Pollina's diverse songs, some of them in new ways. This program will allow you to sense the creative spirit in Pollina's music, but also enjoy his socially critical lyrics, in which the musician always focuses on people themselves. These performances promise to be unforgettable evenings due to the artistic quality of all involved and the impressive stages on which the Sicilian musician will perform with the symphony orchestra.
