Project Agora Music Festival

Gare du Nord
Sunday, 04 May
18:00

Project Agora is a post-genre festival founded in Basel that represents a new Basel platform conceived to create a dialogue between people of all ages, backgrounds, and preferences through music and to broaden their perception by offering new sound experiences by bringing new acoustic experiences to life. It is a space in which the boundaries between different styles of music blur, creating new blends. New colors emerge for which we do not yet have names. They invite established as well as up-and-coming representatives of different genres and cultures to collaborate over a longer period of time and to create new works for the festival. The team of Project Agora aims to curate interesting encounters between artists that would not otherwise arise, and to connect Swiss musicians nationally and internationally. The fourth edition of the festival takes place from May 2-4, with two or three concerts each day at one location. On this evening, there will be two concerts:

* Güldeste Mamaç X Nadav Erlich Septet at 18:00. Güldeste Mamaç and Nadav Erlich unite their diverse musical worlds for a performance that promises to be both soulful and avant-garde. Mamaç‘s rich and evolving style, rooted in Anatolian melancholy, Mediterranean influences, and Indian classical music, finds a fascinating counterpart in Erlich’s contemporary compositions for his septet—a blend of jazz and classical musicians featuring clarinet, bassoon, flute, harp, cello, double bass, and drums.

* Sadio Cissokho X Martina Berther at 19:45. Martina Berther and Sadio Cissokho come together to explore a captivating fusion of experimental bass-driven soundscapes and West African musical traditions. Berther’s versatility—ranging from pop and jazz to punk, noise, and free improvisation—meets Cissokho’s deep-rooted mastery of the kora and percussion, passed down through generations of Senegalese Griot musicians. Their collaboration promises a rich dialogue between the electric and the acoustic, the avant-garde and the ancestral.
Tickets are 23-32 in advance (CHF 26-35 at the box office) for a single evening, or CHF 50 for the festival pass, which includes all three evenings.
