Public Tour —The Great Collection Show

Fondation Beyeler is celebrating its 25th anniversary by staging the largest-ever presentation of its collection to date. The renowned Beyeler Collection includes nearly 400 works by leading artists from 1800 to the present day. The panoramic exhibition will showcase the Beyeler Collection in a new, enriching way. Around 100 works will be presented on almost the entire exhibition space of the museum—from modern classics to new acquisitions of contemporary art. Major works by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Henri Rousseau, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, and Louise Bourgeois are juxtaposed with contemporary positions by Marlene Dumas, Anselm Kiefer, Roni Horn, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Tacita Dean, and Rachel Whiteread. The exhibition is further complemented by the integration of several hyper-realistic sculptures by the U.S.-American artist Duane Hanson. This “exhibition within the exhibition” opens up surprising perspectives on the artworks, architecture, as well as the people in the museum.
There will be an English tour of this special anniversary exhibition on this Sunday afternoon.
Cost of the tour is CHF 7, in addition to museum admission.
