Puppet Theater — Die Ente Bleibt Draussen! (The Duck Stays Out!)

From the very first moment, it becomes clear what you are dealing with here—a program full of the absurdities and banalities of everyday life, captured and documented by Loriot, alias “Vicco” von Bülow, in his sketches, interviews, and speeches. Legendary and almost unknown stories are brought to life at the Basel Marionetten Theater using a wide variety of characters: from comic-like table figures to hand puppets and large figures. A director guides the audience through this revue of characters, becoming entangled in the absurdities of the events from the very beginning. But, in keeping with Loriot's spirit, ultimately nothing can resist the subtle humor and concentrated enthusiasm of all the actors. In 90 minutes, it becomes clear how Loriot's texts and scenes are just crying out to be translated into puppetry. The Basel Marionetten Theater has answered this call—and invites the audience to a subtle and amusing rendez-vous with Loriot's timeless work.
Tickets are CHF 40 for adults and CHF 30 for children and students. Tickets on New Years Eve are for adults only; cost CHF 75, and include an apéro riche in the break.
