Little Dorothy from Kansas dreams of a faraway land with magnificent colors. When she gets caught in a tornado, she and her dog Toto are carried far beyond the rainbow. Finally, the two of them land in the mysterious land of Oz. There lives a great wizard who could help Dorothy. On her way to the wizard, Dorothy meets a scarecrow who would like to have a brain, a tin man without a heart, and a cowardly lion. The Great Wizard sets one condition for his help: first, Dorothy and her companions must bring him the broom of the wicked witch. “The Wizard of Oz” is a world-famous story by American author Lyman Frank Baum. Vera Kniss' characters are based on the original book illustrations by W. W. Denslow from 1900. The famous songs from the 1939 musical film adaptation starring Judy Garland can also be heard.
The theater play, which will feature tabletop puppets and flying monkeys, will be performed in dialect; ideal for families with children ages 6 and up.
Tickets are CHF 20 for adults and CHF 15 for children and students. The performance on New Year’s Eve is CHF 28 and will include a small Apéro.
