Raul Midón has collaborated with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Richard Bona, and Lizz Wright. He is highly regarded for his unique blend of styles, from R&B to jazz to pop and Latin. He acts as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist.
Now the U.S.-American Midón inspires with his 10th album “If You Really Want.” He surrounded himself with the Dutch ensemble Metropole Orkest, a combination of jazz big band and symphony orchestra. The sound worlds of the 52-piece formation put Midón "in a kind of heavenly trance." The musician, who was born blind, explains that the title song speaks out against saying no. "As a blind person, people kept telling me that such and such was impossible. This song is a mantric hymn to possibility." He enjoys playing percussion and guitar while singing along—another of his seemingly endless talents. On this evening, the inventive Midón will captivate the Atlantis audience in a solo performance.
