ReRenaissance Basel — La Contenance Françoise

Historisches Museum Basel - Barfüsserkirche
Sunday, 23 February
18:15

Easter Monday in 1405: The Sainte-Chapelle in Bourges is consecrated by the archbishop of the city, Pierre Aimery. With this institution, which is housed in his palace, Jean, the Duke of Berry (1340–1416) clearly wants to compete with and even surpass all other royal chapels, including the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris.
The a cappella program on this evening will include a selection of chansons whose stylistic diversity precedes the famous (and still much debated today) integration of the "Contenance angloise."
ReRenaissance is a series of concerts that focuses on the music and culture of the Renaissance. These concerts celebrating "a renaissance of the renaissance" are performed by professional musicians from Basel.
The concert is free, but there will be a collection.
