Ride a Steam Train at the Old Hauenstein

Various Locations
Sat 27.04. | Sun 28.04.

Experience a special steam ride on an atypical commuter route—on the old Hauenstein route between Sissach and Olten. In the past, this route was primarily used by locomotives used for heavy freight trains. They drove up the mountain from Olten and back down to the turntable in Sissach—back and forth in a different way. On this weekend in late April, you can treat yourself to a spring steam train ride over the old Hauenstein route. The journey will take you on a trip from Olten or from Sissach on the steam train, with a free choice of seats. On both days, there will be two departures from Sissach and two departures from Olten (and then you can take the “normal” S3 or S9 train back to your starting point). For more information about these historical train rides, visit https://www.sbbhistoric.ch/events/.
You need to book your ticket in advance through Ticketcorner or by clicking on the desired time slot on their website; please verify the departure times closer to the date on their website.
Cost for adults is CHF 36.40 in 2. class or CHF 61.10 in 1. class; kids ages 6-16 are CHF 15.80, and kids under age 6 can travel for free without their own seat.
