Roller Derby Rhine Rebels Basel

St. Jakobshalle
Saturday, 26 August
14:00-17:00

Roller derby is a full-contact sport played on an oval track on quad-skates, that has it all: speed, stamina, toughness, adrenaline, sweat, bruises, occasional tears, respect, communication, support and, above all, team spirit and a lot of fun—think rugby without the ball.
In May 2014, Rhine Rebels Basel met for the first time, determined to bring roller derby to Basel. In true derby-spirit, they did it all themselves, from training and coaching to promotion and management. Since those early days, they have grown to 25 members and counting, welcoming skating and non-skating derby enthusiasts and those to-be. On this Saturday, they will be celebrating nine years with a home game at St. Jakobshalle, the Nine-Aversary.
In roller derby, matches are called “bouts," and everyone is invited to come and enjoy this adrenaline-pumping, high-intensity sport. The Splatter Faeries from Marburg, Germany, will be joining them on track.
