Rüeblimärt (Carrot Market) Aarau

On the first Wednesday in November every year, the traditional Rüeblimärt (carrot market) takes place in Aarau's old town, with its center on the Graben and Schlossplatz. Just as the Ziebelemärit (onion market) belongs to Bern, Aarau is simply unimaginable without its annual Rüeblimärt. It is one of the largest markets of its kind in Switzerland, offering a wide range of regional products and culinary delicacies. These include the delicious Aargau carrot cake, carrot soup, carrot sausages, carrot bread, carrot pasta, carrot syrup, carrot punch, and much more. Come and experience the lively market, filled with the aroma of fresh carrots and regional produce. The Carrot Market celebrates nature and agriculture, inspiring a sustainable lifestyle. But it is more than just a market; it's a place of enjoyment, encounters, and learning. Various activities, special tours, performances by alphorn players, and various events like sculpture creation by chainsaw wood artist Lukas Senn, will take place throughout the day. Be among the 30,000 visitors to the annual one-day market and discover the 60 varieties of carrots by visiting some of the 130 market stalls.
While it is recommended to arrive by public transport, Aarau can be reached in about 50 minutes by car from Basel and there are paid parking garages around the market grounds.
