Schwanensee (Swan Lake)

Musical Theater Basel
Tuesday, 17 February
19:30-22:00

"Swan Lake" is synonymous with ballet for many. It is an immortal tale of the power of true love, of the young Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the Swan Princess Odette and wants to free her from the spell of the evil sorcerer Rothbart. The International Festival Ballet and Festival Orchestra tell this story in opulent visuals. Among the numerous highlights that have captivated audiences for more than 120 years are Siegfried's pas de deux with the white and black swans, and the legendary “Dance of the Little Swans.” With unparalleled lightness and elegance, coupled with the highest technical perfection, the renowned International Festival Ballet, in enchanting costumes, presents these highlights of classical ballet, which demand the utmost physical and dramatic skill from every dancer. Against a magnificent backdrop, the audience is immersed in a fairytale story full of danced emotions, ranging from love and longing to jealousy, anger, pain, and happiness. The consummate beauty of Tchaikovsky's music is timeless, and the profoundly human ideals of love, fidelity, and harmony are inherent in the dance.
Tickets are CHF 66.05-116.80 for adults, CHF 48.75-100 for students, and CHF 54.45 for kids up to age 14.
