Switzerland is a land of many castles, fortresses, noble houses, and domains, once built and inhabited by the upper class. Many have been well-preserved or meticulously restored and are wonderful places to visit for a glimpse into the country’s past—a past that simultaneously screams luxury and difficult conditions and where the necessity to defend oneself against uncertain attack was a daily concern. For the 8th Swiss Castle Day of the Schweizer Schlösser Association, the theme will be "Animals & Mythical Creatures." All 28 member castles will be offering great activities on this day, lending to a huge range of experiences. Many castles also offer a special family program.
