In this concert, Cantate Consort and Cantate Kammerchor a cappela will be performing works by contemporary composers set to texts by William Shakespeare, as well as viol music from Shakespeare’s creative period. The program includes Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Three Shakespeare Songs” (1951), John Tavener’s “Song for Athene” (1997), Jonathan Dove’s "Two Sonnets" (2011), Steven Sametz’s "When He Shall Die" (2000), Paul Mealor’s "Let Fall the Windows of Mine Eyes" (2008), and David Bednall’s "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?" (2016).
Tickets are CHF 35-45 for adults and CHF 25-35 for students and are available at https://cantatebasel.kulturticket.ch/events or at the box office.
